Report: Another Northern California high school football game ends early due to fighting

Game between Kennedy-Richmond and Vallejo called early in the third quarter

More fighting, more early endings. 

According to Thomas Gase of the Vallejo Times-Herald, the game between Kennedy-Richmond at Vallejo was stopped by officials with 9:47 left in the third quarter due to "multiple fights that involved numerous players throwing punches on and off the field." 

Vallejo, 4-3 entering the game, was leading 22-8 at the time and according to Vallejo officials, the Redhawks will be awarded the victory. Kennedy entered 6-2. 

Vallejo head coach Mike Wilson told Gase after the game: "I told the Kennedy coach (Greg Marshall), (who) I've known for a long time, I'm wishing them luck the rest of the way but I'm very disappointed in my team tonight. He told me the same thing about his team."

On Aug. 25, two Bay Area football games were stopped before they got to the third quarter because of fights among fans.

Games between Willow Glenn at Piedmont Hills in San Jose and College Park-Pleasant Hill at Fremont-Oakland ended due to safety concerns. 

Violence at high school football games has been a rising trend over the last several years, which may have led to the precautionary stoppage of play.
