Top 10 games to watch in Georgia high school boys basketball: Eagle's Landing, Grayson, North Gwinnett have a loaded week
COVID cancellations are sweeping the nation, and Georgia high school boys basketball is among the many sports affected this week.
The game that would have topped this list — No. 1 Newton at No. 9 South Gwinnett — was rescheduled from Tuesday to Feb. 10.
But there are still a number of big games on tap (pending more COVID cancellations, of course).

TOP 10 GAMES TO WATCH
10. Marist (9-3) @ Mays (9-4), 7 p.m. Friday
Marist is enjoying its best start to a season since 2012. The War Eagles' three-game win streak was recently snapped after a one-point loss to South Forsyth in a hard-fought battle. Marist will face off against Mays, led by Saulamon Evans and Mykel Williams, who are both putting up 18 points per game. Ironically enough, Mays is also having its best season since 2012.
9. Southwest Atlanta Christian (9-5) @ Greenforest (9-4), 6 p.m. Tuesday
Greenforest is on a serious stretch of winning, with its last three victories coming against top-tier opponents Pace Academy, Grayson and Cross Creek. The Twin Towers of Gai Chol and Dhiaukuei Dut have been too much for teams to handle. Southwest Atlanta Christian will have its hands full but has been holding its own of late, riding a three-game win streak. The Warriors have three players averaging double-digit points, so the firepower is there to go head-to-head with Greenforest.
8. Eagle's Landing (10-2) @ Stockbridge (12-2), 8:30 p.m. Friday
Stockbrige and Eagle's Landing face off in a big-time region matchup. Eagle's Landing is the presumed front-runner but has some steep competition from multiple competitors in the region, one of them being Stockbridge, which is on a three-game win streak after dropping back-to-back games. The Tigers' William Trammell averaged 20 points and five assists in the win streak and will need a big-time performance. Over the past five years, the Eagles have lost twice to region opponents, but one of those was against Stockbridge.
7. Columbia (12-3) @ Southwest DeKalb (10-2), 7 p.m. Saturday
Columbia is having one of its best starts to a season in school history. The Eagles have faced some tough out-of-state competition (that's where the three losses have come from), but they've yet to lose to a Georgia team. Columbia is outscoring Georgia opponents by over 16 points per game. Southwest DeKalb is also having a great season, especially compared to last year when its win total was 10 for the year. Behind Jordan Sanders, who can rattle off 20-point games like it's nothing, Southwest DeKalb is not to be overlooked.
6. Cherokee (11-4) @ Milton (7-5), 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
Milton hasn’t gotten off to the start it hoped for, already losing two more games than all of last season. While the losses are almost equal to the wins, Milton is still a team to be reckoned with, with the amount of talent on the squad. Cherokee is on its way to a third straight 20-win season. With the help of Tayden Owens and a couple of 30-point performances, the Warriors have been a handful for their opponents this season.
5. Parkview (10-6) @ Grayson (9-3), 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
Parkview went 1-2 against out-of-state competition in the Rock Holiday Classic. Meanwhile, Grayson finished third in the Chick-fil-A Classic. Both teams have been having a great start to the season, and one thing you can say for both is that they are extremely competitive. All of Grayson’s losses and all but one of Parkview’s have been by single digits. Look for this to be another competitive, close game.
4. West Forsyth (12-3) @ North Gwinnett (10-3), 7:30 p.m Wednesday
West Forsyth is coming off a 2-1 tournament performance in the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic. The Wolverines have been getting some big performances from Grant Moore and Caleb Lesch to help bring in 12 wins in their last 14 games. North Gwinnett will be a formidable opponent, being winners of four straight and six of its last seven.
3. Windsor Forest (10-2) @ Grayson (9-3), 7:30 p.m. Saturday
Windsor Forest will get into its first action after going 2-1 in the Big South Shoot-out Christmas tourney. Windsor Forest has yet to lose to a Georgia opponent but will have its hands full with Grayson. The Rams are coming off a third-place tournament finish in which head coach Geoffrey Price picked up his 200th win. Grayson will be a tough opponent win or lose, with both of its losses to Georgia opponents being by fewer than five points.
2. Glynn Academy (11-2) vs. Statesboro (12-0), 7:30 Friday
This game has big-time region title implications. Glynn Academy has already lost a region game this year and needs to beat undefeated Statesboro. Both teams will face off again later in the season, but this feels like a must-win for Glynn, which is having a breakout season, while Statesboro is living up to the hype of its usual dominance.
1. Eagle's Landing (10-2) vs. North Gwinnett (10-3), 6 p.m. Saturday
Eagle's Landing is coming off a huge win against IMG Academy Blue in Florida. The Eagles have won two straight after losing two in a row and are now set to face North Gwinnett, which has been hot as of late with exceptional play from RJ Godfrey and Thomas Allard. Both teams are coming into this matchup confident, and it should be the best game to watch this week.
