Congratulations to Sunnyside boys basketball point guard Brent Maldonado for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24-30!

The junior dropped a career-best 36 in an overtime loss to Big 9 leader Davis.

Maldonado received 39.58% of the vote, beating out O’Dea's Jack Farmer who finished second with 30.71%. R.A. Long's Cavin Holden finished third with 7.71% and Davis' Naveah Patterson finished fourth with 5.69%. There were over 150,000 votes tallied this week!

Scored 16 points, including the game-winning 3 in the final seconds of a win over Lynden Christian.

Asjon Anderson, Mount Tahoma Boys Basketball:

Dropped 37 points in a loss to No. 4 Rainier Beach, had 46 points, eight boards and five assists in a win over Bonney Lake.

Soren Dalan, W.F. West Boys Basketball:

Torrid stretch of play for the 6-10 big man. Had 24 points and 23 boards against North Thurston, 18 points, 15 boards and five blocks in an upset of No. 5 Tumwater, went for 15 points, 23 boards and seven blocks against Black Hills in a stretch of four games in five days.

Dylan Darling, Central Valley Boys Basketball:

Took down No. 3 Mt. Spokane nearly by himself, scoring 47 points on 5 of 8 shooting from 3-point range and 18-for-23 at the free throw line along with eight boards, six assists and six steals on Friday night. Also had 32 points at Mead on Tuesday.

Bennett DeLange, Nooksack ValleyBoys Basketball:

Scored 36 points and 23 points in back-to-back games last week. 

Jordan Hansen, King’s Boys Basketball:

Finished with 27 points, 13 boards and five assists in a win over Seattle Academy after going for 29 points on 9 of 10 shooting in a win over Bear Creek.

Kaden Hansen, Auburn Boys Basketball:

Surpassed the 1,000 career points mark with 17 and also had 14 assists — a single-game program record — in a win at Kennedy Catholic Thursday night.

Tyran Lane, Lummi Nation Boys Basketball:

Big man scored 29 point and 32 points in consecutive games.

Ethan Martin, Arlington Boys Basketball:

Set a school record with 42 points against Marysville-Pilchuck, breaking the career 1,000-point mark and followed it up with 26 points against Snohomish. 

Jamil Miller, Gonzaga Prep Boys Basketball:

Back-to-back season-high scoring outings, going for 19 points against North Central and 21 against University. 

Owen Moriarty, O’Dea Boys Basketball:

Scored 21 points in a 64-57 win over West Seattle in a Metro League showdown.

Cavin Holden, R.A. Long Boys Basketball:

As if hitting a game-winner to beat Ridgefield at the buzzer Thursday wasn’t enough for one week, Holden dropped 37 points in a back-and-forth comeback win over crosstown rival Mark Morris on Friday and dropped a triple-double — 20 points, 12 boards, 10 assists in a rivalry win over Mark Morris — Saturday.

Braeden Smith, Seattle Prep Boys Basketball:

Panthers senior had 24 points in a key Metro League win over O’Dea. 

Logan Stempniak, Kentwood Boys Basketball:

The versatile forward put up 25 points, 14 boards and three blocks while shooting 84 percent from the field in a win over Auburn.

Jackson Pepper, Selah Boys Basketball:

Freshman had the bulk of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead Selah to a comeback win at Prosser.

Josh Woodard, RichlandBoys Basketball:

Finished with 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting (including four 3s), six assists and six boards in a win over Hermiston, then 24 points with five 3s the next day against Pasco.

Luke Ellison, Black HillsBoys Basketball: 

Poured in 29 points in a loss at W.F. West, then turned around and put 32 on Shelton, as well as the game-winning 3 at the buzzer.

Justice Taylor, LakewoodBoys Basketball:

Logged an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double in a win over Mount Baker and had 22 points, seven assists, five boards and five steals the next night in a win over Marysville-Getchell.

Jack Farmer, O’Dea Wrestling: 

The senior won two matches this week-both by a pin- against Roosevelt and Ballard. Farmer is currently undefeated this season in the Metro Conference at the 160 pound weight class.

Jaiden Bea, Washougal Girls Basketball: 

Passed the career 1,000-point mark against Woodland Friday, finishing with 24 points (5 of 9 from 3), 10 boards, four steals and two blocks.

Teagan Colvin, Liberty of Spangle Girls Basketball: 

The sophomore sensation racked up 30 points, including six 3-pointers, with seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals in a win over Chewelah.

McKynnlie Dalan, Montesano Girls Basketball: 

The guard had a game-high 32 points, 18 rebounds and five steals, and the Bulldogs won a key 1A Evergreen showdown game over Tenino, reports the Aberdeen Daily World.

Alyson Deaver, Sumner Girls Basketball: 

The reigning 4A SPSL player of the year went off for 34 points against Curtis, and 32 points against Puyallup, both victories.

Chloe DeHaro, West Valley of Spokane Girls Basketball: 

The Eagles point guard had a season-high 27 points in a GSL victory over Rogers of Spokane.

Kyra Gardner, Raymond Girls Basketball: 

Just another night at the office for the WSU signee, who blistered Forks for 36 points – her sixth game of 30 or more points – in a victory. She also had 13 steals.

Mya Groce, Pasco Girls Basketball: 

The Bulldogs’ leader had 27 points, including a season-high four 3-pointers, with eight rebounds and six steals as Pasco remained unbeaten in MCC play with a win over Kamiakin.

Skylar Groesbeck, Skyview Girls Basketball: 

The senior forward finished with 22 points, seven assists and four steals in the Storm’s win over Kelso, reports the Vancouver Columbian.

Bryten Gumke, Mount Spokane Girls Basketball: 

The guard sank five 3-pointers and scored a season-high 33 points in the Wildcats’ win over reigning Class 4A champion Central Valley, reports the Spokesman-Review.

Addison Hall, Winlock Girls Basketball: 

The senior guard registered a game-high 31 points and nine steals in a win over Kalama, reports the Centralia Chronicle.

Elise Hani, Lake Washington Girls Basketball: 

She is more than just a UW volleyball signee. The 6-foot-4 post player had a big week – 19 points, 12 rebound, four blocks against Interlake; 14 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks against Liberty; and 10 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks against Gig Harbor.

Keira Hanson, Issaquah Girls Basketball: 

The senior point guard led the charge in ending Eastlake’s unbeaten run with 16 points and four steals in a win. She also had 15 points and four steals for Senior Night in a win over Mount Si.

Mahaila Harrison, Hudson’s Bay Girls Basketball: 

The forward tallied 19 points in a win over R.A. Long, and 23 points in a victory over Woodland, reports the Vancouver Columbian.

Hope Hassmann, Tahoma Girls Basketball: 

The Cal Poly commit recorded a season-high 33 points on 15-of-23 shooting, with seven rebounds and seven steals in a 4A NPSL win over Kennedy Catholic.

Keely Maves, Pomeroy Girls Basketball: 

The talented forward had 28 points and 10 rebounds, and sank the game-winning free throw in overtime to hold off Oakesdale, reports the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin

Naveah Patterson, Davis Girls Basketball: 

The junior point guard exploded for a career-high 30 points in her first game back in over a month in a win over Wenatchee. She made four 3-pointers, reports the Yakima Herald-Republic

Laurel Quinn, King’s Way Christian Girls Basketball: 

The senior wing player erupted for a game-high 28 points in the team’s victory over Columbia of White Salmon. She also had 22 points and 12 rebounds earlier in the week in a win over Seton Catholic, reports the Vancouver Columbian.

Natalie Sumrok, Tumwater Girls Basketball: 

The senior forward poured in a game-high 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting – 14 coming in the third quarter -as the Thunderbirds clinched the 2A EvCo title with a win over W.F. West.

Tatum Thompson, Woodinville Girls Basketball: 

The Boise State signee had a near triple-double – 24 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists – in a win over Redmond. 

Natalee Trevino, Grandview Girls Basketball: 

The junior forward had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, in a win over East Valley of Yakima, and 21 points and seven rebounds in a win over Ephrata, reports the Yakima Herald-Republic

Jenna Villa, Arlington Girls Basketball: 

The junior sharp-shooter poured in 26 points in the Eagles’ victory over Cedarcrest. She tallied 19 points in a win over Glacier Peak, and 19 points in a showdown 3A Wesco triumph over Snohomish.

Paris Wilson, Sunnyside Girls Basketball: 

Registered a triple-double – 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals – in a win over West Valley of Yakima, reports the Yakima Herald-Republic.

Ella Koebelin, Klahowya Girls Basketball: 

The senior point guard had 16 points, 12 rebounds (career-high), 7 assists, and 6 steals in win over Cascade Christian. She tallied 18 points in both a loss to Sequim and a win over Silas. Koebelin is currently averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals on the season. 

A’niyah Heavens, Chiawana Girls Basketball:

The senior guard scored 19 points in 68-39 win over Southridge, and 24 points along with being a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line in win over Kennewick.

Adria Lincoln, Monroe Girls Basketball: 

The junior finished with a double-double (27 points, 13 rebounds) along with 3 assists, and one steal in 42-56 loss to Stanwood.

Natalie Fraley, Kelso Girls Basketball: 

Dropped 39 points, breaking a program record last tied in 2008-09, and pulled in 13 boards and 14 steals in a win over Heritage.
