Daschle Lamer of Crescent Valley moves step closer to joining brothers as 4-time champions: Oregon (OSAA) wrestling 170-pounds roundup

Crescent Valley junior Daschle Lamer wanted to pin his way through the bracket to secure his third state title and move within one of joining brothers Legend and Chance as four-time champions.
While he turned Crook County’s Brayden Duke three times in the 170-pound final, he never could get the fall. Instead, he “settled” for a 16-1 technical fall that provided the clinching points for the Raiders’ fourth consecutive team title at Saturday’s Class 5A state wrestling meet at Ridgeview High School in Redmond.
“I wanted the pin, but a tech fall means more domination,” said Lamer, who hasn’t lost to an in-state opponent in more than two years. “This one means a lot, because I haven’t been part of a team that has been in a close race.”
Lamer knows the expectations that come with his last name.
“I want to be known as being one of the best Lamers out there,” he said. “Being the best, being a four-timer, keeping my name up there with Legend and Chance, will help me, for sure.”
4A: Junction City senior Emmett Henderson beat Philomath’s Blaise Pindell for the fourth time in a month, this time with the stakes the highest — holding on for an 8-6 victory over the 2021 state champion. Henderson led 6-2 after two periods, but Pindell took him down twice in the final round. However, he couldn’t score any near-fall points as Henderson quickly escaped after each.
3A: Burns freshman Easton Kemper stunned top seed Sprye Nelson of Willamina/Falls City in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Alex Tapia of Warrenton in the final, pinning the senior 25 seconds into the second period.
2A/1A: Oakland senior Kaleb Oliver completed an undefeated three-year run (95-0) since transferring from Colorado before his sophomore year, becoming the Oakers’ second three-time state champion — joining David Henry (2011-13) — with a second-round pin of Crane’s Jake Doman.
