For some time, Glenville (Ohio) four-star cornerback Bryce West has been labeled as a likely future Buckeye.

On Saturday, that came to fruition, as the nation's No. 49 overall prospect and No. 4 cornerback announced his commitment to in-state Ohio State:

“Just me being here so many times I could picture myself in Scarlet and Grey,” West told On3. “Me being an Ohio kid, it seemed like the best place for me as a person and player. It fits me so well. And seeing they’re a top 4 program every year, not many schools can really say that. The developmental piece also stands out. They bring the best coaches and players in every year.

The battle for West's services largely came down to Michigan and Ohio State - with June official visits set for both programs.

But all along, the Buckeyes have been billed as the team to beat.

With West in the fold, Ohio State's class jumps from No. 5 to No. 2 nationally.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about West as a prospect:

"Has enough size and measureables to project to a high major level. Has a track background and has run as fast as 10.93 in the 100-meter dash and 6.96 in the 60-meter dash. Also has offensive snaps and has shown himself to be a breakaway threat as a running back. Has played man for his school and also shown he can do that in a camp or workout setting. Shows good ball skills. Will put his nose in the action and lay a hit. Doesn't show a single elite trait but is solid in every area. Continuing to add polish while building upon his quicks and long speed, which are already good, are keys for his developmental future."
