Prediction: Oklahoma Sooners set to add 5-star playmaker?

Oklahoma appears poised for a major addition Saturday

>>> UPDATE: Davon Mitchell commits to Oklahoma, reclassifies into 2024 class

Class of 2025 Los Alamitos (California) five-star tight end Davon Mitchell is set to announce his college commitment Saturday at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound pass-catcher is rated the nation's No. 1 or No. 2 tight end in his class by every major recruiting service and is down to a final three of Alabama, Miami and Oklahoma.

So, who will it be?

Prediction: Davon Mitchell to Oklahoma Sooners

Mitchell has visited all three finalists at least three times each and has taken trips to all three in the past month.

In truth, he's high on all three programs.

But Oklahoma seems to have separated itself from the other two given his comfort with the coaching staff, offensive scheme and culture in Norman.

The recruiting industry agrees, as 247Sports has two predictions in for Oklahoma and On3 gives the Sooners a 95 percent chance of securing the big tight end's pledge.

Adding to the intrigue of Mitchell's decision, the five-star playmaker is also considering reclassifying into the class of 2024.

While it remains unclear when he will make an announcement regarding his academic future - possibly Saturday - fans will know where he's headed soon.
