Aydin Breland, 5-star defensive lineman, down to 3, visiting Georgia this weekend

Mater Dei (California) five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland will visit Georgia this weekend

And then there were three.

Mater Dei (California) five-star prospect Aydin Breland, the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman, announced a final three of Georgia, Miami and Oregon this week.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive stalwart is ranked the nation's No. 6 overall prospect and is the highest-rated uncommitted player in the country.

This weekend, Breland is taking what could be a recruitment-altering visit to Georgia:

But Oregon fans are hoping that trip doesn't move the needle.

For several months, the Ducks have been presumed to be the slight favorites in the battle for the Mater Dei star.

“It just feels like home up there," Breland told On3.

Not only has Oregon put on a full-court press to secure his commitment, but Dan Lanning's staff has continued the work of Mario Cristobal building in-roads to Mater Dei.

Since the class of 2019, Oregon has secured the commitments of multiple Monarchs - linebacker Mase Funa (2019), running back Sean Dollars (2019), defensive lineman Keyon Ware-Hudson (2019), cornerback Jaylin Davies (2021), offensive lineman Lipe Moala (2023) and wide receiver Jack Ressler (2024).

But Breland would be the Ducks' biggest Mater Dei victory to date.

Lanning and his staff will have to hold off Cristobal, who gave Breland his first offer while at Oregon, and back-to-back national champion Georgia.

The Bulldogs will get their chance to move to the forefront this weekend.
