With the 2022 Texas high school baseball playoffs about to start SBLive is taking a closer look at the top baseball players across the Lone Star State.

We started with an inside look at the Top 20 catchers in the state and the Top 25 corner infielders. Now we're turning our attention to the Top 30 middle infielders.

Jack Bell, jr., Ray

Jack Bell, Ray

Bell is a slick-fielding shortstop who is committed to play for Arizona State. The junior is a team leader for Ray, which has been ranked No. 1 in 5A this season.

Kolby Branch, sr., Lovejoy

Branch is one of the Dallas area’s leading home run hitters this season with seven. The Baylor signee is a complete all-around player who is destined for stardom at the next level.

Damian Bravo, sr., Haltom

An athletic senior, Bravo can play multiple defensive positions and is also a quality pitcher for Haltom. The Texas Tech signee has a lot of power to the pull side.

Kayson Cunningham, fr., Johnson

One of the top freshmen in Texas, Cunningham is a natural shortstop who has been a major contributor for Johnson. The Texas Tech commit is Perfect Game’s No. 14 national recruit for the class of 2025.

Jayden Duplantier, sr., Summer Creek

Duplantier is a senior leader for Summer Creek who can absolutely fly on the base paths. The Texas signee has been a four-year standout at the high school level.

Casan Evans, so., St. Pius X

Evans, rated the nation’s No. 71 overall prospect for the class of 2024 by Perfect Game, recently threw a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts over top-ranked private school Concordia Lutheran. Evans is also a terrific defensive infielder.

Jalin Flores, sr., Brandeis

Flores was a monster at the plate the week of April 17-22, going 9 for 12 with a triple and two home runs, one of which was a grand slam. The senior has signed with Texas.

Theo Gillen, so., Westlake

Checking in at No. 5 nationally in Perfect Game’s class of 2024 rankings, Gillen is already one of the top shortstops in Texas. Gillen is an electric all-around athlete with limitless potential.

David Hogg II, so., Oakridge

Hogg II, an LSU commit, has terrific size for his age and is an elite runner. The switch hitter with plenty of pop is the nation’s 60th-best sophomore according to Perfect Game.

Jayson Jones, sr., Braswell

Jones is a big 6-foot-2 middle infielder with great bat speed and power. The Arkansas signee is ranked No. 25 nationally for the class of 2022 by Perfect Game.

Dondreone Kennedy, jr., Benbrook

Kennedy has had a terrific junior season at the plate for Benbrook. He went 6 for 7 the week of April 10-15 with two doubles, three triples, nine RBIs and seven stolen bases.

Kaeden Kent, sr., Lake Travis

Kent is an elite defensive middle infielder who has signed with Texas A&M. The senior leader has also been strong with the bat and is an effective pitcher for Lake Travis.

Jack Little, sr., Tompkins

Little, a Wichita State signee, is one of the leaders for 6A power Tompkins. The senior is a versatile infielder who has been a productive player during his entire high school career.

Tracer Lopez, sr., Cameron Yoe

Lopez is a good all-around athlete and one of the top players in 3A. The Texas Tech signee is a standout at pitcher and shortstop for Cameron Yoe.

Drew Markle, jr., Tompkins

Tompkins is a rangy 6-foot-3 junior who can play anywhere in the infield or outfield. The Ole Miss commit has excellent speed and is a strong hitter.

Cade McGarrh, sr., Liberty

McGarrh has an excellent 6-foot-3 frame and can fly on the base paths. The Texas Tech signee is also a feared pitcher for Liberty.

Jordan Medellin, sr., Bay Area Christian

Medellin is an explosive athlete and a dangerous switch hitter at the plate. On the mound, the Baylor signee piles up strikeouts with a good fastball.

Ethan Mendoza, jr., Southlake Carroll

Mendoza is a rising junior who recently committed to Arizona State. Mendoza is a smooth fielder at shortstop who is aggressive at the plate.

Chase Mora, sr., Tomball

Mora is a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher who has been super productive at the plate for Tomball. The Texas State signee belted two home runs in a recent win over Klein.

TJ Pompey, jr., Coppell

Pompey, a TCU commit, is a power arm on the mound and a tremendous defensive shortstop. The junior is rated No. 74 nationally for the class of 2023 by Perfect Game.

Brayden Randle, sr., Rockwall-Heath

Randle is a leader at shortstop for 6A’s top-ranked team. The Texas signee is a steady performer on offense and defense who can absolutely fly.

Tristan Russell, jr., Cypress Woods

Russell batted .477 with three home runs in district play as a junior. The Florida State commit is also a standout with his glove at shortstop.

Travis Sanders, sr., Copperas Cove

Sanders is a tremendous athlete with power to all fields from the right side of the plate. The Texas Tech signee is rated No. 88 overall nationally by Perfect Game.

Wyatt Sanford, so., Independence

Sanford, a Texas A&M commit, is one of the nation’s top shortstops in his class. The sophomore is already a standout in the field and at the plate.

MJ Seo, jr., John Paul II

Armed with a mid-90s fastball, Seo could pitch or play shortstop in college for LSU. His younger brother, Minjae, is one of the country’s top pitching prospects for the class of 2025.

Anthony Silva, sr., Clark

Silva is an elite defensive infielder who is ranked No. 75 overall nationally for the class of 2022 by Perfect Game. The TCU signee also has major pop in his bat.

Travis Sykora, jr., Round Rock

Sykora, a Texas commit, is an elite two-way player who is rated the nation’s No. 8 overall junior by Perfect Game. The 6-foot-4 Sykora is a natural defensive infielder with a high-90s fastball.

Jose Vargas, sr., Clear Springs

An Arizona State signee, Vargas is a pure hitter with explosive power from the left side. He recently belted four home runs during a five-game stretch in April.

Justin Vossos, sr., Ridge Point

Vossos had seven RBIs, including a three-run homer, in a recent district victory. The Texas A&M signee is a good all-around hitter with an elite throwing arm.

Jett Williams, sr., Rockwall-Heath

Williams is an electric five-tool player for the defending 6A state champions. Williams, a Mississippi State signee, struck out just three times as a junior and is rated No. 34 overall nationally by Perfect Game.
