'Miss Basketball' Tatum Thompson leads Class 4A team to win in WSGBCA all-star game
Try however you want - you just can't keep Woodinville's Tatum Thompson from doing whatever she wants on the basketball court.
Thompson, the talented forward from the reigning Class 4A champions, poured in a game-high 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting, leading her squad to a 99-81 victory over the 3A team to close the WSGBCA senior-only all-star games Saturday afternoon at King's High School in Seattle.
Teammate Veronica Sheffey added 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the victory.
Seattle Prep's Gabby Stuart led the 3A squad with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.
CLASS 2A 94, CLASS 1A 84: Prosser's Halle Wright had a double-double - 22 points and 10 rebounds - and the 2A all-stars recovered from an early first-half double-digit deficit with a big fourth quarter in a victory at King's.
Annie Wright's Jazmyn Stone and Lynden Christian's Libby Stump scored 20 points apiece. Stone also had five assists and four steals, and Stump made four 3-pointers.
CLASS 2B 92, CLASS 1B 35: The high-powered 2B seniors got out fast - 23-5 in the first quarter - and cruised to an all-star win in Seattle.
Six players were in double figures for the 2B squad, led by Adna standout Faith Wellander's 15 points. Colfax's Asher Cai and Warden's Kiana Rios added 14 points apiece, and Raymond's Kyra Gardner - the Gatorade state player of the year - had 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.
