WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Kooper Clark, Tumwater football: Softened up a tough North Kitsap defense with a game-high 244 rushing yards on 31 carries, scoring all three touchdowns in the Thunderbirds' 2A semifinal victory.

Ashton Demarest, Napavine football: He makes it all go for the defending Class 2B champions on offense - and passed for 307 yards and three touchdowns, adding 75 rushing yards and a score in a state semifinal victory over Onalaska

David Huffstetler, Okanogan football: Filling in for an injured Steele Rico at fullback, the junior was a workhorse in a tough 2B semifinal victory over Northwest Christian of Colbert - 33 carries, 150 yards and a touchdown.

Rex Larson, Anacortes football: Against a physical Enumclaw team, the senior signal caller was lights-out attacking the perimeter - 20-for-25, 376 yards and five touchdowns in the Seahawks' win in the 2A semifinals.

Kallen Maioho, Wilbur-Creston-Keller: For two playoff games, Wildcats had not thrown a pass. But they needed to against big Mossyrock - and this junior delivered by going 8-for-9 for 233 yards and four touchdowns in a 1B semifinal victory.

Kolton Matson, Lake Stevens football: In back-to-back 4A state playoff games, the Vikings have put an opponent on running clock after the first half. Matson has been the trigger man in both - and went 19-for-21 for 314 yards and four touchdowns in a state semifinal win over Kamiakin.

Lucien Paz, Liberty Bell football: The fun never stops with this offense - and the junior was magnificent under center against Neah Bay - 15-for-21, 374 yards, five touchdowns, and 131 rushing yards and two scores in a 1B semifinal triumph.

Brayden Platt, Yelm football: When it's time for big games, the state's best overall player always shows up. The Oregon commit rushed for 219 yards, including a 54-yard run for the game's lone touchdown in a 3A semifinal win over Eastside Catholic.

Carson Rubin, Bellevue football: Against arguably the best defensive line in the state in O'Dea, the senior plowed to a game-high 170 rushing yards on 25 carries, including two touchdowns in the Wolverines' win in the 3A semifinals.

Aidan Skolrud, Graham-Kapowsin football: He might not be the most fearsome-looking player on the roster, but he has ice in his veins. The junior kicked two field goals, including the game-winner from 25 yards as time expired in the Eagles' 27-24 win over Eastlake in the 4A semifinals.
