First Hockey Memory: "I don't know if it's hockey-related. I was skating as a four-year-old around the boards when my dad was coaching in my hometown. That's the first thing that I can remember about being on skates."

Hockey Inspirations: "Those questions are tough, you gotta think about it a little bit (smiles). But you always want to prove something to yourself and to prove that you can do it. That's been my inspiration all of my career. Not just career, but of all my life."

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: "I like to do a lot of stuff. Like everybody else, go to movies, especially in New York, see musicals and galleries and that kind of stuff. I also like a lot of sports, I like golf. Trying to play golf all the time over the summer. And just I love chilling out with my friends and just relaxing."

Nicknames: "Oh a lot of them. Guys call me Kotes. My Czech nickname is Kotel."

Favorite Movies: "It's a lot of them. I would name Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction. I love Quentin Tarantino."

Last Book Read: "I'm reading a lot of Czech books, but it's not gonna tell you anything. I just finished one yesterday."

Favorite TV Shows: "Like anything else, a lot of them. I love Entourage, Prison Break, a lot of them."

Musical Tastes: "U2, Pearl Jam."

First Job: "When I was guarding the parking lot. I was the parking guy."

Current Car: "Mercedes ML 500 - back home in Czech. And BMW 750 over here."

Favorite Meal: "Steak."

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: "Vanilla."

Greatest Sports Moment: "Probably participating in 2006 Olympics in Torino for my country. Playing in the Olympic circles is a great memory."

Most Painful Moment: "All the injuries. I have been through a lot of injuries. Knock on wood. Some of them have been painful. But, you know, hockey is painful sometimes. And I cannot think of one particular moment. But what was painful was the final game when I was with Buffalo Sabres, we were eliminated twice in the semifinals of the Stanley Cup. So we've been right there. And we were just not able to just make the final steps. It was kind of painful for the heart."

Favorite Uniforms: "I love the Ranger uniforms."

Closet NHL Friends: "Jiri Novotny was playing with Columbus, but now he's playing in Russia. Now it's Jaroslav Spacek in Montreal."

Funniest Players Encountered: "I got to think about these questionssmiles. The tough guy from Buffalo (now in New Jersey) - Andrew Peters is funny. He tries to make everything fun with the funny stuff. A bunch of guys are pretty funny."

Toughest Competitors: "All the big defensemen like Chris Pronger, Zdeno Chara, these guys are tough to play against."

Strangest Game: "Yes. It was the outdoor game in Buffalo. It was a great experience and I was able to be in a shootout. And, you know, be out there by yourself in front of 80,000 people. It's quite extraordinary."

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: "I don't know, like every awkward fall on the ice is embarrassing. But I wouldn't say like any particular big one."

Funny Hockey Memory: "Oh you're giving it to me with these questions (smiles). Not much fun about hockey any more, but funny moments - the game's not filled with much funny moments any more. I don't know."

Last Vacation: "It's been boating in Italy with my friends."

Personality Qualities Most Admired:
"I love character and respect. I always say, give respect and you be respectful and you're gonna gain respect from other people. It's kind of motto I try to follow in my life."
