Avalanche goalie Theodore leaves game against Canucks with hip injury

Publish date:

Theodore, in search of his 150th NHL win, wasn't busy in the first period. He made the toughest of his six saves during a flurry in the final minute. He wasn't visibly injured when the period ended, but Peter Budaj was in net to start the second period. Theodore stayed on the bench and the team announced that a hip injury would keep him out the rest of the game.

Theodore entered with a 7-7-1 record, a 3.06 goals-against average, and .902 save percentage. But he has struggled to keep the No. 1 job ahead of Budaj, who has better numbers and started four of the previous seven games. Theodore was 3-0 against the Canucks, stopping 90 of 95 shots this season.
