Ben Walter scores twice to lift Monsters to 5-1 win over Bulldogs in AHL matinee

CLEVELAND - Ben Walter had two goals and an assist to lift the Lake Erie Monsters to a 5-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in a mid-week AHL matinee Wednesday.

Greg Mauldin added a goal and two assists while rookie Luke Walker scored his first professional goal. Defenceman Ray Macias also scored for the Monsters (6-5-1-2).

Goaltender Jason Bacashihua stopped 27 shots for the win.

Forward David Desharnais scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs (7-2-1-2) to run his season-opening points streak to 12 games.
