Boston centre Marc Savard named NHL first star of the week

NEW YORK - Boston Bruins centre Marc Savard is the NHL's first star of the week after leading the league with two goals and six assists in four games.

Vancouver Canucks centre Henrik Sedin and Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin are the second and third stars this week.

Savard helped lead the Bruins to four straight wins last week as they moved into first overall in the Eastern Conference. Savard has recorded eight goals and 19 assists so far this season.

Sedin recorded seven assists last week as the Canucks went 3-0-1 on their four-game road trip.

Khabibulin posted a 3-0-0 record with a 2.90 goals-against average and .918 save percentage as the Blackhawks began their six-game road trip with three consecutive victories.
