Brian Elliott, Jimmy Howard, Ilya Kovalchuk named NHL's three stars

NEW YORK - Ottawa Senators goalie Brian Elliott was named the NHL's first star of the week Monday after posting a 4-0 record.

The 24-year-old had a 1.00 goals-against average and .966 save percentage as the Senators climbed to fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard was given the league's second star while New Jersey Devils winger Ilya Kovalchuk took the third star.

Howard also posted a 4-0 record last week with a 1.22 GAA, .958 save percentage and one shutout.

Kovalchuk led all scorers with eight points in four games for the Devils. He had three goals and five assists.
