Burns burned with two-game ban by NHL for careless use of his stick

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Minnesota Wild defenceman Brent Burns was suspended for two games by the NHL on Saturday.

The suspension was for careless use of his stick in an incident with Steve Bernier at the end of Friday night's game against the Florida Panthers.

Burns will forfeit US$38,172.04 under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

He is eligible to return for Friday's game at Detroit.
