The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Shane O’Brien and forward Michel Ouellet from Tampa Bay in exchange for defenseman Lukas Krajicek and forward Juraj Simek.

Ouellet notched 36 points in 64 games for the Lightning last season and was originally a frouth round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2000.

O’Brien played 77 games on the Lightning’s back end last season, scoring 21 points. He was an eighth round pick by the Ducks in 2003.

Krajicek notched 11 points in 39 games for the Canucks last season and was brought over in the deal for Roberto Luongo. Simek has yet to play an NHL game.

“Lukas is a proven NHL performer who can sure up our blue line and help with our transitional game,” executive vice president of hockey operation Brian Lawton said in a statement. “With the addition of Juraj, we feel we have added to our depth at forward and we look forward to seeing what he can do in our organization this year.”
