VANCOUVER - Kevin Bieksa is back with the Vancouver Canucks,

Vancouver recalled the defenceman from Chicago of the AHL after a one-game conditioning assignment. Bieksa had missed nearly four months after sustaining a deep cut to his right calf.

He had an assist in Manitoba's 2-1 overtime win in Chicago on Wednesday night. He is eligible to return to the Canucks lineup for their game Thursday night in Nashville, which was the team he suffered his calf injury against Nov. 1.

Bieksa has missed 46 games after the skate of Predators forward Vernon Fiddler slashed into his right leg when the two battled in the corner. Bieksa had to be helped off the ice as blood poured through his socks. He had surgery the next day to repair damage to the calf and other muscles leading to his Achilles tendon.

Bieksa didn't resume skating until Feb. 1.

Last season, he led Canucks defencemen with 12 goals and 42 points.
