Canucks sign defenceman Bieksa to three-year contract extension

The NHL team says the 26-year-old Grimsby, Ont., native has signed a three-year extension through the 2010-'11 season. Bieksa had 12 goals and led all Canucks defencemen with 30 assists and 42 points last season.

He averaged over 24 minutes of ice time in 81 games.

Bieksa was selected by the Canucks in the fifth round (151st overall) of the 2001 NHL entry draft.
