Columbus trades Eric Boguniecki to Islanders for Ryan Caldwell

Caldwell was assigned to the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

Boguniecki, 31, has played in 167 NHL games with Florida, St. Louis and Pittsburgh, recording 34 goals and 42 assists. The Blue Jackets signed him as a free agent Aug. 22. In eight games with Syracuse this season, he was scoreless with eight penalty minutes.

Caldwell, 25, has four goals and 32 assists in 134 games over the last two seasons with Bridgeport of the AHL. Caldwell was scoreless in two games with the Islanders last season.
