Daniel Briere signs monster US$52-million, eight-year deal with Philadelphia

Briere signed an eight-year deal with the Flyers worth US$52 million.

The 29-year-old is coming off a career season with the Buffalo Sabres in which he racked up 95 points.

Philadelphia beat out several teams that were interested in the unrestricted free agent.

His monster contract will pay an average of $6.5 million per season with a $10-million salary in the very first season.
