David Desharnais scores hat trick as Bulldogs overcome Griffins 6-3

HAMILTON, Ont. - David Desharnais scored a hat trick as the Hamilton Bulldogs overcame the Grand Rapids Griffins 6-3 in AHL action Friday.

Tied at three in the third period, the Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals in the final five minutes for the win.

Brock Trotter, Yannick Weber and Alex Henry also scored for Hamilton (45-27-4-0), which is now just two points back of second-place Grand Rapids in the North Division race for home advantage in the playoffs.

Darren McCarty, Justin Abdelkader and Darren Haydar scored for the Griffins, who dropped to 42-22-6-6.

Bulldogs goalie Cedrick Desjardins made 29 saves for the win, while at the other end Jimmy Howard stopped 43 shots.
