HAMILTON - David Desharnais scored in regulation and added the shootout winner as the Hamilton Bulldogs rallied to beat the Rochester Americans 4-3 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

The Americans roared to a quick start, scoring three times in the first period.

David Brine opened the scoring when he blasted a slap shot that was tipped past Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis by Karl Stewart at 1:29 of the first.

Kenndal McArdle gave the Americans (9-22-0-3) a 2-0 lead at 4:39 after he skated behind the net and jammed the puck past Denis on the short side.

The Bulldogs allowed their third short-handed goal in two games at 11:28. Janis Sprukts and Stewart skated in on a two-on-one before Sprukts fired a shot that was saved by Denis. The rebound bounced right onto the stick of Stewart, allowing him to bank the puck into the back of the net.

Hamilton (19-11-2-0) got on the scoreboard at 1:02 of the second period when Desharnais hammered a slapshot that beat Rochester starting goaltender Mike Brodeur below the glove.

Max Pacioretty scored the Bulldogs second goal at 18:43. Yannick Weber rifled a shot on net that was saved by Brodeur, but Pacioretty grabbed the loose puck and jammed it through Brodeur's pads.

Weber tied the game 3-3 at 14:36 of the third period. While stationed at the left point, Weber received a pass from Shawn Belle and blasted a shot that beat Brodeur between the legs. Olivier Latendresse earned an assist to extend his assist streak to four games.

After five minutes of overtime, the teams headed to a shootout. Denis stopped three of four shooters while Yanick Lehoux, Mike Glumac and Desharnais scored for the Bulldogs to secure the win.
