Ducks hire former Canucks GM Dave Nonis as an advisor

The Anaheim Ducks have hired former Canucks GM Dave Nonis as senior advisor of hockey operations.

Nonis will work closely with executive VP/GM Brian Burke, whom he worked with during Burke’s tenure as GM in Vancouver.

Nonis spent the last 10 years with the Canucks organization before being fired after the Canucks missed the playoffs this season.

A native of Burnaby, B.C., Nonis played for the Burnaby Bluehawks (British Columbia Junior Hockey League) from 1982-84. He then played four seasons at the University of Maine, serving as team captain in 1987 and 1988 while also leading the club to consecutive NCAA Frozen Four appearances.
