Flames sign defenceman Ference to three-year contract extension

Ference registered career highs in assists (27), points (31), and games played (82) during the 2005-06 season. He added four assists in seven post-season games.

The Edmonton native has 19 goals, 68 assists and 301 penalty minutes in 333 cvareer games.

The Flames acquired the five-foot-10, 189 pound defenceman from the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003 in exchange for a third round pick in the 2004 draft.
