"It looks good, I'm positive," he said. "It felt better yesterday. I don't think it's 100 per cent, but it's 10 times better than it used to be. I was very happy yesterday, and it felt pretty good at practice today. We'll keep on working on it."

Forsberg has had difficulty finding a skate to accommodate his surgically repaired foot, but a new orthotic seems to be providing some relief.

He acknowledged Thursday night's game against the New Jersey Devils will be a big test.

"The game after has been brutal," he said.

Against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Forsberg scored his first even-strength goal since Nov. 15, but the last-place Flyers, who have four points in their past four games, lost 4-3 in a shootout.

"You get the confidence back right away as soon as you feel you can do things," Forsberg said. "It was just great to be out there and doing the things you're used to doing."

Coach John Stevens said he liked what he saw of Forsberg.

"He seemed to have the puck a lot, and good things happen all the time," Stevens said. "Not only with the puck but without the puck. You could clearly see the energy, and he didn't have the frustration that he's had previously."

The Flyers have delayed talks of a contract extension for Forsberg until his foot situation is settled.
