Flyers hope to split season series with Lightning

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers will try to

salvage a split of their season series with the Tampa Bay

Lightning on Friday.

The Flyers, who are in the midst of their second two-game trip

to Florida this month, suffered a 4-1 loss in Tampa Bay on

January 15. The Lightning scored three goals in a span of 2:03

and captain Vincent Lecavalier converted a penalty shot in that

one.

Philadelphia split their first two meetings of the season

against the Lightning at home.

The Flyers are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on

Tuesday. Simon Gagne and Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia,

which has dropped three of its last five contests.

The Lightning had a three-game losing streak snapped Thursday,

suffering a 3-2 setback to the Carolina Hurricanes. Mark Reechi

and Ryan Malone each tallied in that one.

Former Flyer Steve Downie is currently on a four-game point

streak for Tampa Bay, which has won seven of its last 11

contests.
