Former NHL coach and three-time Jack Adams Award winner Pat Burns is battling cancer for a third time, he told Montreal's La Presse.

According to the report, Burns was diagnosed with lung cancer after he returned from the World Championship last spring.

Burns will not undergo chemotherapy, as he did for his first two bout of cancers (colon and liver) and instead explore other methods of battling the disease.

The Montreal native coached the Canadiens, Maple Leafs, Bruins and Devils during his 14 years behind an NHL bench.
