Forward Boyd Gordon gets one-year deal to stay with Capitals

ARLINGTON, Va. - Restricted free agent Boyd Gordon has signed a one-year, US$761,000 contract to remain with the Washington Capitals.

The 25-year-old forward had five goals and nine assists in 63 games while making $650,000 last season. He was third on the team with a 56.1-per-cent faceoff percentage and was a regular member of the penalty killing unit.

Gordon was a first-round choice in 2002 and made his Capitals debut during the 2003-04 season. He has played in 267 career games for Washington, scoring 20 goals with 46 assists.
