The teams were tied at a goal apiece after the first period, with the Salmon Kings holding a 4-3 advantage following the second. Kiel McLeod had two goals and an assist for Victoria (34-32-1-3). Robin Gomez and Mike Stutzel scored the remaining goals for the Salmon Kings, with Phil Cole contributing three assists.

Mathew Deschamps, Tommy Maxwell, Jeff Kyrzakos and Brock Hooton responded for Phoenix (27-38-2-3), which clinched a playoff berth when Utah lost 4-3 to Alaska.

RoadRunners goalie Cody Rudkowsky made 34 saves while Julien Ellis stopped 25 shots to earn his 20th win of the season.

Neither team was able to convert on four power-play opportunities.

The clubs conclude the regular season with games Friday and Saturday nights in Victoria.
