Habs goalie Carey Price sits out against Islanders due to flu

Publish date:

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Montreal goalie Carey Price sat out the Canadiens' game against the New York Islanders on Thursday night because of the flu.

The all-star netminder didn't feel well Thursday morning and was scratched from the lineup.

The Canadiens recalled Marc Denis from Hamilton of the AHL on Thursday and he served as the backup to Jaroslav Halak. The 31-year-old Denis stopped six of seven New Jersey Devils shots on Jan. 2 during his only appearance with the Canadiens this season.

Price (23-14-9) had started four straight games and played six of seven - going 3-0-2 in that stretch - before missing Thursday's contest.
