Hockey Canada announces final 22-man roster for World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan

Hockey Canada has made the final cuts to the world junior team and announced the final roster for the annual holiday season tournament. To see the full roster, click here.

Six players will be returning from last year’s squad: Stefan Della Rovere, Patrice Cormier, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Ellis, Alex Pietrangelo and Colten Teubert. A number of player’s from last year’s gold medal-winning team are now in the NHL, including John Tavares and Matt Duchene.

There are 20 players on the 22-player roster who were drafted in either 2008 or 2009, 10 of which were first round selections.

Canada has medaled at each of the past 11 world junior tournaments and has come home with gold the past five years in a row.

This year’s tournament, which will be held in Saskatchewan, begins Dec. 26 and runs until Jan. 5. Canada’s first game comes on Boxing Day against the Latvians.
