Hockey luminaries gather to mourn the death of Habs enforcer

While a bag pipe played, a procession of close family and friends entered the church, where they shared memories of Ferguson's life on and off the ice.

Ferguson's son, Toronto Maple Leafs general manager John Ferguson Jr., said his father taught him how to be a competitor and to do everything with class.

Ferguson Sr. passed away last Saturday after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. He was 68.

Hockey stars like former Habs defencemen Serge Savard and Guy Lapointe joined others like Scotty Bowman, a former Montreal coach, Glen Sather and Mike Ricci at the funeral.

Along with playing with the Canadiens from 1963-71, helping them win five Stanley Cups, Ferguson Sr. managed the Winnipeg Jets and worked for the San Jose Sharks.
