NHL-Fined Phoenix coach Wayne Gretzky US$10,000 as a result of D Nick Boynton's instigator penalty in the final five minutes of a Nov. 12 game against San Jose. Boynton received an automatic one-game suspension for his actions. Fined the New York Rangers $25,000, the Toronto Maple Leafs $10,000, New York F Sean Avery $2,500 and Toronto F Darcy Tucker $1,000 for their actions in the pre-game warm-up on Nov. 10.

BOSTON BRUINS-Assigned D Matt Hunwick to Providence (AHL).

COLUBUS BLUE JACKETS-Loaned D Nikko Maenpaa to HPK (Finnish Elite).

DALLAS STARS-Fired Doug Armstrong, general manager. Named Brett Hull and Les Jackson interim co-general managers.
