Jaroslav Halak records sixth shutout of the season, leading Bulldogs over Moose 3-0

Publish date:

It's Hamilton's fourth-straight victory, improving their record to 27-18-1-1.

Hamilton opened the scoring on the power play with Andre Benoit's sixth goal of the season. Benoit buried a shot over Moose goaltender Julien Ellis' shoulder, taking a feed from Mikhail Grabovski. Andrei Kostitsyn also earned an assist on the goal.

Kostitsyn extended Hamilton's lead to 2-0 when he cut in alone from the right side of the net and slid the puck just inside the left post past an outstretched Ellis at 7:41 of the middle stanza.

The Bulldogs rounded out the scoring at 3-0 when Matt D'Agostini deposited a rebound into an open net at 4:50 of the final frame. Danny Groulx and Grabovski earned helpers on the goal.

Halak picked up his 13th win of the season, setting a franchise record for shutouts in a single season.

At the other end, Ellis stopped 36 of the 39 shots he faced in a losing effort for the Moose (22-16-6-4).
