Knackstedt, Riendeau score in SO as Providence Bruins edge Abbotsford Heat 5-4

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Jordan Knackstedt and Yannick Riendeau each scored in the shootout as the Providence Bruins beat the Abbotsford Heat 5-4 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

The shootout followed a tense third period.

Down 3-2, Jeremy Reich scored twice in the final four minutes to put the Bruins ahead by one.

But with just 28 seconds left in regulation, T.J. Brodie put the equalizer past Providence goaltender Michael Hutchinson to send the game to extra time.

Wyatt Smith and Jamie Arniel also scored for Providence (7-6-2).

Bryan Cameron, Matt Keith and Josh Meyers added one each for the Heat (11-6-2) while Greg Nemisz scored in the shootout.

Hutchinson stopped 34 saves for the win, while at the other end Jean-Philippe Lamoureux made 29 saves.
