Kurtis McLean scores shootout winner as Penguins down Bulldogs 5-4

The shootout loss snapped the 'Dogs five-game winning streak but extended their point streak to six games. Hamilton's record now stands at 28-18-1-2 on the season. The win gives Wilkes-Barre/Scranton a record of 30-12-2-3.

Andrei Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski each had a goal and two assists in regulation time for Hamilton, with Kostitsyn and Duncan Milroy scoring in the shootout.

The Penguins opened the scoring at 7:47 of the first period when McLean posted his seventh goal of the season. Micki DuPont and Rob Schremp earned assists on the goal.

Grabovski tied the game 1-1 for Hamilton with his 14th tally of the campaign at 13:29 of the first frame. Grabovski took a pass from Matt D'Agostini and let a wrist shot go that beat a surprised Penguins netminder Devan Dubnyk, who made 23 saves from 27 shots.

Yann Danis made 29 saves in net for the Bulldogs.

Hamilton took an early 3-1 second period lead with two goals in 54 seconds. Grabovski set-up Kostitsyn who let a shot go that went off the post and into the back of the net just 1:43 into the stanza. D'Agostini then notched his tenth goal of the campaign at the 2:37 mark, finishing off a tree-way passing play with Grabovski and Kostitsyn by beating Dubnyk with a low shot.

The Penguins answered with two goals of their own in the middle stanza to even the score 3-3. First, Joe Jensen tallied his third goal of the season at the 10:12 mark. Jonathan Filewich then tied the score 3-3 with his 21st goal of the campaign at the 16:56 mark on the power play.

In the third period, the teams exchanged special teams goals on the same infraction. Kyle Chipchura gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 lead with a shorthanded goal at the 4:37 mark. Marc-Antoine Pouliot then evened the score for the Penguins with a power-play goal at 6:16 of the frame.

After a scoreless overtime, the game was forced to a shootout. Kostitsyn and Milroy were successful, while Rob Schremp, Daniel Carcillo and McLean scored to lift the Penguins to victory.
