LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings are keeping defenceman Jack Johnson around.

The club signed the restricted free agent to a two-year contract on Friday.

Johnson, who missed 41 games last season because of a shoulder injury, still finished with a career-high with 11 points (six goals, five assists), which tied him for first in goal scoring among Kings' defencemen.

The 6-1, 225-pound Indianapolis native also tied for first among NHL defencemen with three shootout goals this past season.

He represented Team USA at this year's world championships where his five goals led all defencemen in the tournament.

Johnson, who was originally selected by Carolina third overall in the 2005 draft, was acquired by the Kings on Sept. 29, 2006.
