NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The group of local investors trying to buy the Nashville Predators weren't talking on the day their exclusive negotiating rights was set to expire.

Joe Hall, a spokesman for the eight investors, would not comment Wednesday when asked whether the group would close the deal by the deadline or if they would ask team owner Craig Leipold for an extension.

California venture capitalist William (Boots) Del Biaggio, who originally bid for the team by himself earlier this year, is one of the eight investors.

Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie had his own US$220-million deal to buy the team fall through in June when he started taking season ticket deposits in Hamilton, Ont. But he remains interested in purchasing the team.
