Loser point makes life difficult

Publish date:

I was reading am article on the GMs meeting and how they need to figure out tiebreakers for playoffs teams tied in points.

I have a suggestion: do what every other pro sport does, a win is a win a loss is a loss no matter how much extra is needed to decide the winner.

Splitting points was appropriate when games ended in ties, but now that one team wins no points should be given to the loser.

How much easier the standings would be? I think the standings and playoff race would be easier to follow. Also, it would provide incentive for a team to go after the victory in regulation instead of hanging on for the overtime point.
