Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke named Olympic torchbearer; will run in Toronto

TORONTO - Brian Burke is taking a break from running the Toronto Maple Leafs to carry the Olympic flame.

The Maple Leafs general manager was among a number of runners selected Tuesday to carry the Olympic torch through the Toronto area.

Burke will carry the torch Saturday.

Along with Burke, former CFL player Tom Hipz and John Craig, a member of the Canadian Olympic team that boycotted the 1980 Games, will also participate in the torch run.
