TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent forward Josh Leivo to the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies as winger David Clarkson makes his return to the club.

Leivo had a goal and an assist—his first career NHL points—over six games with the Leafs this month.

Clarkson, who signed a US$36.75-million, seven-year deal with Toronto in the off-season, missed the first 10 games of the season while serving a suspension for coming off the bench to join an altercation during an exhibition game against Buffalo.

He will make his regular-season debut with the Maple Leafs in Columbus on Friday. The Leafs went 7-3 in his absence.
