Micflikier's go-ahead goal gives Americans 2-1 win over Moose

Publish date:

WINNIPEG - Jacob Micflikier scored the game-winner in the second period as the Rochester Americans won 2-1 over the Manitoba Moose on Friday in AHL action.

Michel Ouellet, who collected the only Moose goal, opened the scoring, slapping the puck into the net on the fourth shot of the night at 10:04 of the first.

The Americans tied the game up before the first period expired when Stefan Meyer tipped in a backhander. The Moose were leading in the shot department 9-7 and the club's were tied at one heading into the second stanza.

At 11:18, with Ouellet forced to sit out for interference, the visitors capitalized with an extra attacker as Micflikier's wrist shot hit the back of the net to put the Amercians (10-22-0-3) up for good.

Karl Goehring made 17 saves for Manitoba (22-11-0-1), while opposite Americans netminder Mike Brodeur made 23.
