ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Wild signed defenceman Maxim Noreau to a multi-year deal on Thursday.
Noreau had eight goals and eight assists in 50 games for Houston of the AHL last season.
The 20-year-old blue-liner, who played junior for the QMJHL's Victoriaville Tigres, attended training camp with the Wild last year.
"Maxim took a risk in leaving junior hockey last season, where he was a star player with a strong track record of success," assistant general manager Tom Lynn said in a statement. "He turned pro and proved he can contribute at the AHL level and earned an NHL contract. Now, his next challenge will be demonstrating he belongs in the NHL."
Noreau posted 44 goals and 104 assists in 203 games over three seasons with the Tigres.
