Mueller has two goals and an assist to lead Admirals over Moose 6-3

MILWAUKEE - Chris Mueller had two goals and an assist as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Manitoba Moose 6-3 in American Hockey league action Wednesday.

Jamie Lundmark, Gabriel Bourque, Linus Klassen and Mike Bartlett also scored for the Admirals (12-6-5).

Jonas Andersson, Jordan Schroeder and Evan Oberg replied for Manitoba (11-7-3).

Mark Dekanich made 27 saves for Milwaukee while Tyler Weiman stopped 14 shots for Manitoba.

Lundmark opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:18 into the game. Admirals left-winger Kelsey Wilson barrelled into the Moose end and forced a loose puck that Andreas Thuresson passed to Lundmark, who was in a perfect position to beat Weiman.

Less than a minute into the second period, a poorly timed line change allowed Milwaukee defenceman Jonathan Blum to send Bourque in on a breakaway. Bourque made no mistake faking Weiman to the backhand and lifting the puck over the goaltender.

Mueller put the Moose up 3-0 after finishing a two-on-one with Thuresson at 5:16 of the second period.

Andersson replied for the Moose 19 seconds later as he gained the puck in Milwaukee’s end and danced around a couple Admirals defenders before beating Dekanich with a screened wrist shot.

The Moose pulled to within one with the Admirals assessed a delayed penalty. Marco Rosa rang a shot off the post, and the puck came to Schroeder in the slot for a one-timer that got by Dekanich’s blocker.

Milwaukee got that goal back when Mueller sent a pass through the legs of a Moose defenceman to Klasen at the side of the crease. Klasen made the one-touch deflection past Weiman for his 11th goal of the season to give his team back their two-goal lead.

Halfway through the third period, Defenceman Oberg pulled the Moose to within one again as he leaned into a slapshot from the high slot past Dekanich.

Manitoba head coach Claude Noel pulled Weiman with 1:36 remaining, but Mueller scored his second of the game into an empty net to make it 5-3 Admirals.

Bartlett capped the scoring when he crossed the Moose blue-line on a two-on-two rush and wired a wrist shot by Weiman's glove.
