The New Jersey Devils president and G-M has announced that Brent Sutter will be the team's next head coach.

Lamoriello tried to hire Sutter two seasons ago and was turned down. Sutter had been serving as the coach and G-M of the Red Deer Rebels - the Western Hockey League team he owns.

He stepped down from those positions on Thursday.

Lamiorello was behind the Devils bench for the final three regular-season games and two playoff rounds after Claude Julien was abruptly fired.
