New Winnipeg franchise to open NHL pre-season play Sept. 20 against Columbus

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg will open NHL exhibition play on Sept. 20 with a pair of split-quad games against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

One game will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg while the other will be in Columbus.

The Winnipeg team will then visit the Nashville Predators on Sept. 24 and the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 25 before playing the Ottawa Senators in Conception Bay South, N.L, as part of the Kraft Hockeyville celebrations on Sept. 26.

It will wrap up pre-season play with home games against Carolina on Sept. 28 and Nashville on Sept. 30.
