Newbury scores game-winner, Pogge stops 22 shots as Marlies edge Americans 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Kris Newbury scored the go-ahead goal and Justin Pogge made 22 saves as the Toronto Marlies edged the Rochester Americans 2-1 Wednesday night in the AHL.

Brent Aubin scored two assists for Toronto, whose North Division-leading record moves to 21-5-0-4 with the victory.

David Brine opened the scoring for Rochester in first period, scoring unassisted for his fifth of the year.

But Marlies forward John Mitchell tied it up on the power play with less than two minutes remaining in the period.

Newbury scored his 11th at 1:08 in the second.

Tyler Plante blocked 18 of 20 shots for the Americans (10-21-1-2).
