TORONTO - The NHL's next venture outdoors could be a game at Wrigley Field.

A source told The Canadian Press that the NHL is negotiating with the home of the Chicago Cubs to hold the Winter Classic there next season. The league has held two outdoor games in recent years. A record 71,217 fans watched the Sabres take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at Ralph Wilson Stadium in January.

In 2003, the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens at Commonwealth Stadium.
