PITTSBURGH - The National Hockey League paid tribute Saturday night to Vancouver Canucks defenceman Luc Bourdon, who was killed in a motorcycle collision earlier in the week.
The Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins observed a moment of silence prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final. Bourdon's picture was flashed on the videoboard as the majority of players stood with their heads down.
Bourdon died near his hometown of Shippagan, N.B., Thursday after his motorcycle crossed the centre median and collided with a tractor-trailer. The 21-year-old Quebec Major Junior Hockey League alum split time between the Canucks and the AHL's Manitoba Moose this season, and had two goals and a plus-7 rating in 27 games for Vancouver.
